Dietary Information
Your Guide will ask for dietary information on arrival but please find more information below. If you would like to know further details, or talk to us in advance of your visit, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Risk can never be completely eliminated and visitors consume products at their own risk. However, we aim to make The Chocolatarium as accessible to all and are keen to work with you to reduce risk and enable you to make informed decisions.
Vegan Diets
The Tour of Chocolate and Truffle-Making Experiences are generally suitable for those following a vegan diet. Plant-based alternatives are provided throughout the tour.
Chocolate & Cocktails, Chocolate & Wine and Chocolate & Whisky Experiences
Please note that many alcoholic drinks are not vegan-friendly due to production methods. Unfortunately, this information is not always listed on product packaging.
For all our tours and experiences
Please note that because we work with a variety of ingredients, and some items are labelled as “may contain traces,” there is a possibility of cross-contamination, meaning small traces of milk or other non-plant-based ingredients may be present.
When you arrive, please let your Guide know that you follow a vegan diet.
Vegetarian Diets
The Tour of Chocolate and Truffle-Making Experience are generally suitable for vegetarians. When you arrive, please let your Guide know that you follow a vegetarian diet. There are a small number of products to avoid and your Guide will point these out to you.

Soya Intolerance or Allergy
All tours and experiences are generally suitable for those who have a soya intolerance or allergy, but please bear in mind that traces of soya may be present due to cross-contamination on-site or at the manufacturer.
Soya Lecitin and Soya Protein
Many of the chocolates we use, and many well-known high street brands, contain an emulsifier called soya lecithin. Most people with a soya intolerance or allergy react to soya protein rather than lecithin, and can usually enjoy these chocolates with little or no ill effect.
If you have a severe soya allergy and can only consume chocolate that does not use soya as an emulsifier, this can be prepared for you. Please email us in advance of your visit and let your Guide know on arrival. Your Guide will point out any products that contain soya so you know which ones to avoid.
Nut or Peanut Allergy
Many people with a nut or peanut allergy have successfully taken part in and enjoyed a Chocolatarium tour but please read the following information carefully.
We avoid products that have peanuts or nuts listed as an ingredient on the tour and in the truffles we create.
However, because we work with a variety of ingredients, and some items are labelled as “may contain traces,” there is a possibility of cross-contamination, meaning small traces of nuts or peanuts may be present.
When you arrive, please let your Guide know about your allergy and please bring appropriate medication (such as an EpiPen) just in case.
There are chocolates that contain nuts and peanuts for sale in the shop.
Dairy or Lactose-free Diets
All tours and experiences are generally suitable for those who have a milk or lactose intolerance or mild allergy, but please bear in mind that traces of milk may be present due to cross-contamination on-site or at the manufacturer.
When you arrive, please let your Guide know about any dietary requirements. Your Guide will point out any products that contain milk so you know which ones to avoid. You will be offered both dark chocolates and chocolates that are made with milk alternatives.
Gluten Intolerance or Allergy
All tours and experiences are generally suitable for those who have a gluten intolerance or mild allergy, but please bear in mind that traces of gluten may be present due to cross-contamination on-site or at the manufacturer.
When you arrive, please let your Guide know about your dietary requirement. There are a number of products that contain gluten and your Guide will point these out so you know which ones to avoid.
Please also see separate information for Coeliacs.
