Children's Birthday Party FAQ

Can we bring cake?

The children will be getting plenty of sweet treats during the party. However, if you wish to bring a birthday cake to sing happy birthday, please bring cupcakes which the children can take away with them.

Cake cannot be eaten at The Chocolatarium due to the potential unknown allergen risk to other guests.

What about other party food?

Food purchased outside cannot be consumed inside The Chocolatarium.

Some families choose to combine a trip to The Chocolatarium with a pizza at Pizza Express or (in the summer) a picnic at Arthur’s Seat. We recommend leaving 30 minutes between the end time of the party and a booking at Pizza Express or other nearby restaurant.

What numbers of adults and children can we have?

Birthday parties are charged at a flat rate for a maximum of 16 children (and 2 supervising adults).

You can have as few people as you wish but this means that if your group is quite small, it might prove uneconomical to have a private party and you could consider joining one of our public tours instead. Please note there must be at least one adult per four children attending public tours.

Two parents or adults must be present for the duration of the party.

If you wish to invite less children and more adults, this is no problem, so long as the maximum number of adults is 6 and the total group number does not exceed 18. Unfortunately, we are unable to accommodate larger parties than this.

Do you have invitations?

Yes, here is a Birthday Party invitation template you can download.

Can younger siblings come too?

Siblings are of course welcome and are counted as one of the 16 children. However, please bear in mind that children under the age of 6 years are not permitted.

Do you do anything special for the birthday girl or boy?

Yes. The Guides are very good at making the birthday child feel special. They will also get the chance to make some special chocolates just for them.

What about party bags?

We don’t supply party bags but if you would like to bring them, we can store them in the office and your Guide can help you give them out at the end.
